I am writing this post while we are in the middle of the COVID 19 Pandemic. People are practicing social distancing and trying to avoid prolonged time in public places. Pandemic or not, I like to be in and out of the grocery store quickly. I believe firmly that you have time for what you make time for, so believe me I will squeeze every second out of my day to fit everything in.
Here is how I keep my trip to the grocery store quick and ensure I do not forget the things I need.
Step 1 is to meal plan- Meal planning is so crucial for my family. It ensures that we have enough food for the week, enough variety in meals and that our meals consist of healthy, whole foods. I have a laminated meal plan that I use every week to map out all of our meals Sunday through Saturday (check out our free printable under our printables tab which includes areas for each of these steps)
Step 2 is to make a grocery list- Once you have all of your meals mapped out, you will be able to make a master grocery list. Go through each recipe and add ingredients to your master grocery list.
Step 3 is to categorize your list by grocery section- This may seem like an unnecessary step. For me however, this is just as crucial as meal planning. Here is where I take my master list and break it into sections. I move all things produce to the produce section, all things frozen to the frozen section and so forth. This is important for two reasons. One is so that I do not miss anything and end up having to walk back and forth across the grocery store. Two is so that I am in and out quick.
HARMONie is all about making little changes so that you can get back to your life and minimize your stress. We hope this meal planner can help make your weekly grocery shop easy!
